FLOURS, PANKO & SUGARS - Panko

Panko is a Japanese breadcrumb that has become popular around the world due to its crisp, light texture. Unlike traditional breadcrumbs, which are typically made from dry bread ground into fine crumbs, panko is made from crustless white bread, which is dried, then crumbled into large pieces. The Japanese word "panko" (パン粉) literally translates to "crumb bread", which reflects its unique texture. It is widely used in Japanese cuisine for breading foods such as tempura, tonkatsu (breaded pork), croquettes, fish and seafood. It gives a light, crispy crust to fried dishes without becoming heavy or greasy .
