Chiran

Founded in 1919 in Chiran, in southern Kagoshima, the Chiran distillery has been preserving the art of traditional shōchū for four generations. Located in a region rich in sweet potatoes and groundwater, it produces authentic shōchū using local ingredients, processed by hand in accordance with traditional artisanal methods. True to its motto , “Both man and kōji are gifts of nature, ” it crafts each batch with care, sensitivity, and respect for all living things.
