Tips for storing matcha
Before opening (sealed product)
Store at 10°C or below, ideally in the refrigerator or even the freezer. Avoid storing at room temperature.
Taking out of cold storage / opening
Remove the product from the refrigerator the day before and let it return to room temperature (approximately 25°C) overnight before opening it. Opening a product while it is still cold causes condensation (moisture in the air), which leads to discoloration.
After opening
Use the product within one week, or two weeks at most (at 25°C and ≤50% humidity, with careful resealing each time). An airtight seal that is not properly closed in a hot, humid place greatly accelerates deterioration, especially after more than a month.
How to choose your matcha?
Matcha comes in several grades.
🍵 Ceremonial matcha: The finest and purest, intended for traditional tasting. Prepared simply with hot water, it reveals all its subtlety, delicate aroma, and velvety texture. Slightly bitter and very rounded on the palate, it appeals to matcha purists.
🍵 Classic matcha: Perfect for lattes, smoothies, and other drinks. It retains matcha’s color and flavor while being more affordable than ceremonial matcha. It is ideal for enjoying matcha every day.
🍵 Culinary matcha: Designed for cooking and baking, it can be heated and combined with other ingredients without any problem. Its more pronounced and sometimes slightly bitter flavor allows it to add an intense matcha taste to cakes, creams, and sauces.
