Founded in 1966 in Shizuoka, Ito En is a pioneer in Japan’s beverage industry. Initially known as “Frontier Seicha,” the company stood out by selling tea in individual sachets at a time when it was still sold loose. This innovation, which enabled tea to travel more easily, allowed the company to grow rapidly while continuing to innovate with the creation of the first canned green teas, opening doors for it internationally.

At the same time, in the 2000s, the company launched a program to recycle waste from tea production, thereby limiting its environmental impact while supporting its growth.

In 2019, the Oi Ocha brand (created in 1989) was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the best-selling bottled tea brand in the world.
