Every year since 2018, the Chichibu distillery, founded by Ichiro Akuto in 2008, has created a blend dedicated to Paris. Six labels were designed to illustrate this new edition, in a colorful pop-art style, paying homage to Japanese kawaii culture. We have chosen to present the one dedicated to Tokyo’s flagship district, the Japanese counterpart to the Champs-Élysées: Ginza. Inspired by postage stamps with their serrated edges, the labels evoke travel and the connection between the two urban cultures. Chichibu Paris Edition 2025 is the result of a complex blend: four new French oak barrels, one Spanish oak barrel that previously held sherry, three French oak barrels that previously held Bordeaux red wine, one American oak hogshead, six bourbon barrels, and two bourbon barrels that previously held a heavily peated whisky. The whiskies comprising this cuvée range in age from five to fourteen years. Enriched by this eclectic combination of barrels, its aromatic and flavor profile rests on a malty foundation that allows it to stay the course through thick and thin. Particularly balanced, it joyfully traverses earthy, fruity, spicy, rich, and infused notes that rival each other in intensity.


Nose: Rich, creamy. Supported by a pleasant malty, earthy, and spicy (cinnamon) bitterness, the aromatic palette quickly opens with notes of tropical fruits (passion fruit, lychee), black berries (grape, blackberry), and forest floor (dry leaves, porcini mushroom). Then, subtle hints of prune lend it great nobility.

Appearance: Topaz.

Palate: Clean, lively. Initially oily, richly peaty, lemony, and peppery, the flavor profile evolves toward honeyed and waxy notes. Becoming increasingly smooth, it grows more and more indulgent (toast, crispbread), malty (barley porridge), and deliciously fruity (mirabelle plum, damson).

Finish: Long, concentrated. Echoing the malty tones of the nose and palate, the finish is refreshed by flavors of gentian, mint, eucalyptus, and sage. Both exotic (passion fruit) and candied (plum), the aftertaste is gradually softened by notes of toffee and bourbon vanilla.
