Founded in 1993, Hokkai Sasan was established after a year spent in Japan by the owner of the company, Marinus Noordenbos, who worked there in a fish processing company. Specializing in mackerel, an abundant species in the North Sea exported in large quantities to Japan, the company began by producing and delivering mackerel to private Japanese customers in the Netherlands. Today, Hokkai San offers more than 60 traditional Japanese fish products and the book to more than 8,000 families in Europe and the United Kingdom.
