Founded in 1966 in Shizuoka, Ito En is a pioneer in the Japanese beverage sector. Initially known as "Frontier Seicha", the company distinguished itself by marketing tea in individual bags at a time when tea was still sold loose. This innovation, which made it easier for tea to travel, enabled the company to grow rapidly, while continuing to innovate with the creation of the first canned green teas, which opened doors to international markets.

At the same time, in the 2000s, the company launched a program to recycle the waste associated with tea production, thereby limiting its ecological impact while promoting its development.

In 2019, Vendor Oi Ocha (created in 1989) was awarded by the Guinness Book as the world's best-selling bottled tea Vendor .
