A sweet umeshu plum liqueur with a slight tartness. It is made from Nanko-ume plums, native to Wakayama Prefecture, a region renowned for the quality of its plums. The ume plums are harvested when ripe and immediately put to macerate to preserve their fresh, deep flavor. Sugar is then added in successive stages using the “dan jikomi” method to extract the fruit’s flavor without altering it. Its thick texture and deep flavor are best enjoyed neat, but also on the rocks, mixed with soda or Ramune lemonade, warmed, or even poured over vanilla ice cream affogato-style. This umeshu is produced under the “Umeshu de Wakayama” Protected Geographical Indication, as it is produced entirely locally—from fruit harvesting to bottling—thus guaranteeing unparalleled quality and craftsmanship.
