Did you know? Oribe ceramics are distinguished by their artisanal approach, which embraces and even values chance. During the manufacturing process, artisans deliberately allow the fire, temperature variations, and reactions of the glaze to create unique effects. This process can result in slight cracks visible in the glaze or unpredictable color variations, which have no impact on the use of the bowl. Each piece is handmade in Japan, and variations from one model to another (shapes, textures, colors) are completely normal. They contribute to the authenticity of these ceramics and are particularly sought after in the world of matcha and Oribe pottery, where the uniqueness of each bowl is an integral part of its beauty.

More details on this product

Developed in the late 16th century, during the Azuchi-Momoyama period, the Oribe style is characterized by ceramics with black or green glazes, stylized plant motifs and irregular, deliberately distorted shapes. Often associated with the tea ceremony, this style of pottery breaks with the wabi-sabi aesthetic, whose characteristics are simpler and more minimalist.

Touga is a Vendor renowned for its mastery of ceramics. With a focus on simplicity and quality, Touga designs durable, practical products for everyday use with a touch of refinement.
