This hojicha is obtained by roashing sencha green tea over high heat. It was originally made in an economy concern, when tea lost its freshness. The roasting process gives it a grilled taste that recalls hazelnut and chocolate in addition to making it lose its tea, so it can be drunk at any time of the day, both hot and cold.
