KISSABA · the café
In Japan, the term “kissaten” literally means “tea house,” but coffee plays a prominent role there. Emerging as a reaction to the cafés of the time—which had, over the years, become noisy places where alcohol flowed freely—kissaten established themselves as havens: quiet, cozy spots frequented by writers and intellectuals. An institution that has stood the test of time.
At iRASSHAi, we’ve put our own spin on it all. KISSABA has two sides to it. By day, it’s a café where you can settle in, slow down, and savor the moment. In the evening, it transforms into a temaki bar: the temaki are made to order, right in front of you, with fresh, carefully prepared ingredients. Two atmospheres, one place, and a great reason to come back.
KISSABA is not bookable (except for groups of 10 or more).

KISSABA · Temaki Bar
Matcha lattes and pastries when it opens, donburi for lunch, and now temaki in the evening: KISSABA is constantly changing with the passing hours.
As night falls, KISSABA transforms: the lighting softens, the atmosphere becomes more intimate, and the counter becomes the beating heart of the restaurant.
Right in front of diners, the chef prepares each temaki to order, from the precise slicing to the final roll. A lively, immersive, and deeply indulgent experience.
Designed as a natural extension of the space—a café in the morning, a canteen at lunchtime, and a bar in the evening—KISSABA embodies this Japanese vision of time, which shifts throughout the day, blending tradition and modernity.
