Benizakura is a craft gin brand from Hokkaido, created by Hokkaido Jiyuu Whisky Co. Founded in 2018, the company is distinguished by its commitment to offering products that embody freedom, both in their design and in their philosophy. The name "9148" is inspired by George Orwell’s novel 1984, with the digits "19" and "84" reversed, symbolizing a yearning for a free and utopian world, far removed from the dystopian societies depicted in the novel. Specializing in gin, this distillery uses local botanicals to create a variety of flavors, influenced by the seasons and produced in small batches. The numbers engraved on each bottle’s label (distillation date and recipe number) attest to the uniqueness of each batch, offering a one-of-a-kind experience for gin enthusiasts.
