Thick wheat noodles, made exclusively from wheat grown on the island of Hokkaidô, water and salt. The dough is worked according to a traditional method which gives noodles a smooth texture in the mouth.
Very popular in Japan, the UDON are mainly consumed in winter in hot dishes. They can eat with a curry sauce, or in a hot broth. Their thicker texture than other noodles also saves them in the pan with a Yaki-Men sauce because they will not disintegrate. In summer, they are consumed cold, Zaru-Udon way with tsukemono or raw vegetables.
