Green tea with toasted rice and matcha - loose - 200g

Matcha iri genmaicha

1001056

A unique tea obtained by sprinkling matcha over genmaicha, which gives a unique emerald color. Genmaicha and matcha are very popular in Japan. Genmaicha is made by mixing green tea with puffed rice grains, giving it a sweet, nutty taste. Its origins lie in the Japanese working class, where tea, which was rare and precious, was cut with rice to minimize consumption. Matcha is a green tea powder with an umami and slightly sweet taste. It is traditionally prepared by mixing it with water using a dedicated whisk. It adds bitterness and umami to genmaicha, balancing out the flavors. Yamamasa Koyamaen began growing tea in the 17th century, during the Edo period. Traditional techniques were passed down from generation to generation until, in 1861, the company began wholesaling. The company continues to produce high-quality teas, managing every stage from cultivation to sale.
