Collection: Alongu

Sleek and elegant, the Alongu tableware collection was created by designer Jin Kuramoto. Designed to complement traditional Japanese cuisine as well as culinary traditions from other cultures, it blends seamlessly wherever it is used. While traditional Japanese cuisine and tableware served as sources of inspiration, the designer has incorporated various styles, reinterpreting them in a unique way. The collection includes plates, bowls, and other vessels with carefully considered shapes that draw on modern Asian tableware while adapting to a wide range of culinary styles. Over countless generations, Japanese food culture has evolved through a process of transformation. The search for tableware suited to this evolving cuisine is the source of inspiration for Alongu. The name “Alongu” refers to the English term “along,” which can be translated as “alongside.” This tableware, crafted in Hasami—a town renowned for its ceramics—draws inspiration from national and regional influences and traditions, while being perfectly suited for contemporary cuisine. It is thus a creation that bridges the past and the future.
