Based in Uji, Kyoto, Kyoto Yamasan, founded in 1995, has set itself the mission of making traditional Japanese cuisine accessible through quality food products that are both healthy and additive-free, such as miso, soy sauce and tea. The company favors a "three-way win-win" approach, integrating the values of respect for producers, customers and the company itself. In 2014, it began exporting abroad, and is now present in over 60 countries.

The company also has a restaurant and café in the heart of Uji, working with organic and local produce.
