Yagicho Honten was founded in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, in 1737, during the Edo period. The company supplies restaurants with Kombu seaweed, which is used to make dashi, the broth at the heart of Japanese cuisine. Its shop was completely renovated in 2017 by Tsune Nagasaka.
