Founded in 1830 in the city of Imizu, Toyama Prefecture, Kataokoya began by producing soy sauce and later expanded into miso production. The company values natural and traditional manufacturing processes. It uses exclusively local ingredients, such as rice and soybeans from the Toyama region.
