Fondé en 1849 à l'époque d'Edo à Nihonbashi, Muromachi, Yamamoto Nori Ten est un pionnier dans le commerce du nori. On lui attribue notamment la création du nori assaisonné en 1869, lorsque l'entreprise fabrique ce produit pour l'empereur Meiji. Cette création sera si populaire qu'elle sera ensuite commercialisée au grand public.
