A rice with a tender texture and sweet taste, the result of a cross between two rices made in 2006 and recognized as the flagship variety of the Miyagi region since 2016. It takes its name from Date Masamune, a famous samurai who ruled the Tôhoku region during the 17th century.
It is characterized by a taste that becomes sweeter as it is chewed, as well as a tender texture, making it a rice that can be enjoyed hot or cold, with vegetables or fish, in sushi, onigiri or in bentos.
