A Futsushu sake with dry and lively aromas, created in response to requests from Otari Station in Nagano, a village renowned for its brewing expertise, which wanted to offer its visitors a local sake that could be enjoyed warm. Made from Hitogokochi rice grown in Otari by the local agricultural cooperative, it is then brewed by the master brewers of Hakuba Nishiki using traditional Otari techniques. Both affordable and versatile, this Futsushu is an everyday sake with a clean taste, ideal for accompanying a wide variety of dishes. Perfect for discovering the world of sake at an excellent price-quality ratio, it can be enjoyed chilled or hot, in the pure tradition of Japanese mountain villages. It pairs beautifully with grilled meats and fish, soups, stews, and fried dishes such as tempura. Its label pays homage to the Hida Mountains, nicknamed the "Northern Alps," and evokes the joy this sake brings, like a whale swimming in a sea of clouds.

More details on this product

Founded in 1906, the Hakubanishiki brewery, located in Ōmachi in Nagano prefecture, takes its inspiration from the iconic Hakuba mountains. Named by second-in-command Yoshisuke Usui, Vendor embodies the very essence of the region, with manufacturing methods that respect local nature.

The brewery, perched at an altitude of 700 metres, benefits from the pure water of the Northern Alps and locally grown rice, thanks to long-standing partnerships with local farmers. Since 1990, Hakubanishiki has favored the cultivation of local rice for its beverages, and since 2017 all the rice used has come from the town of Shinano-Ōmachi.

The brewery's philosophy is to honor the nature around it and create refined sakes that capture the purity of the snowmelt waters of the Alps. It is also committed to sustainability, supporting local agriculture and practicing environmentally friendly farming techniques.
