This Japanese seasoning is made from glutinous rice, water, alcohol and sugar. Its syrupy texture and mild, rich taste make it an ideal ingredient for adding sweet and umami notes. It can be used to season meats, fish and vegetables, or as a sauce or marinade. It helps give dishes the sweet-and-sour taste characteristic of Japanese and Asian cuisine. It is also perfect for steaming foods or glazing meats.
