Houmoto was founded in 1952 in Sasebo by the ancestors of the current managing director. This family-run company has been making sesame tofu for three generations. This specialty arrived in Nagasaki in the 17th century thanks to Buddhist monks. Since then, the company has developed a unique technique for roasting sesame seeds to meet the high expectations of Nagasaki's inhabitants and ensure consistent quality. In addition, products are made to order and contain only the finest natural ingredients to guarantee optimum freshness.
