もち精白米
Vendor : Nanohana
⋅ Rare variety, produced in small quantities
⋅ Glutinous texture
⋅ Ideal for making pastries or sekihan
A high-quality glutinous rice of the Shin Taisho Mochi variety, nicknamed by the Japanese "the king of glutinous rice", or "the ghost rice" because of its great rarity outside Toyama prefecture, where it is hardly ever distributed.
It has a sticky, chewy texture that doesn't disintegrate during cooking, making it ideal for pastries and confectionery, or for preparing sekihan, a rice and kidney bean dish.
It is harvested in Toyama prefecture by Nanohana, a company specialized in rice production. Black rice is grown in Toyama prefecture, which is renowned for the quality of its rice. The plains are irrigated by melting snow from Mount Hida, also known as the "Northern Alps". With its fertile, nutrient-rich soils, the region is ideal for growing rice.
