うるち精白米
Vendor : Nanohana
⋅ Milky white color
⋅ Grown in Toyama, famous for its rice
⋅ Delicious cold
⋅ Perfect in sushi, onigiri or bento
If Koshihikari is the king of rice, then Milky Queen is its queen! This mutation of Koshihikari has gained in popularity thanks to its low amylose content, which makes it softer than other rices. What's more, it retains its texture when cold, making it ideal for onigiri, bentos, sushi and other cold rice dishes. It takes its name from its slightly milky appearance when cooked. Its taste is similar to Koshihikari.

Up to now, I've only tried Koshihikari and I couldn't wait to try Milky Queen. Honestly, from a taste point of view, both varieties are equally convincing. The Milky Queen is characterized by a more melt-in-the-mouth texture, making it a particularly pleasant rice to chew, and I think I prefer this variety for making onigiri. More convincingly priced in its 5kg format, I highly recommend it 😉
Very good rice with a subtle taste. Its texture is neither too dry nor too moist. Cooked in a pressure cooker, it's perfect and goes equally well with meat or raw fish!
