Unique in its history and innovations, Hakutsuru is now one of Japan's leading sake producers.
The company's history dates back to 1743, when Jihei Kano began producing sake in the Nada district of Kobe, located in
in Hyogo prefecture. A few years later, the company took the name Hakutsuru ("the whooping crane"), paying homage to
birds that can be seen in rice paddies. Hakutsuru found its place on the world stage with a presence at the
Paris World's Fair in 1900, from which date the Vendor has gone from strength to strength.
