A traditional rice shochu with a smooth, rounded flavor, crafted in Miyazaki using an artisanal technique passed down from generation to generation for over a century. It is made exclusively from rice fermented in large earthenware jars with koji cultivated in wooden vats. The shochu is then slowly aged for three years in a clay-walled warehouse. This production method gives it a unique taste and texture, enjoyable whether served hot or cold, on the rocks, or diluted with water. The distillery, founded in 1892, is the last in Miyazaki to carry on this tradition and has received several gold medals at national Japanese spirits competitions.
