Unique in its history and innovations, Hakutsuru is now one of Japan’s leading sake producers.
The company’s history began in 1743, when Jihei Kano started producing sake in Kobe’s Nada district, located
in Hyogo Prefecture. A few years later, the company took the name Hakutsuru (“white crane”), paying tribute to
these birds that can be seen in the rice fields. Hakutsuru made its mark on the global stage by participating in
the 1900 Paris World’s Fair, after which the brand continued to grow.
