Houmoto was founded in 1952 in Sasebo by the ancestors of the current managing director. This family-run company has been making sesame tofu for three generations. This specialty arrived in Nagasaki in the 17th century thanks to Buddhist monks. Since then, the company has developed a unique technique for roasting sesame seeds to meet the high expectations of Nagasaki's inhabitants and ensure consistent quality.
