Founded in Hiroshima in 1922 under the name Sasaki Shoten, Otafuku Foods, Inc. began as a business selling sake and soy sauce. In the 1950s, as okonomiyaki gained popularity in Japan, the company successively launched a Worcestershire sauce and an okonomiyaki sauce. Today, it is one of the leading manufacturers of Japanese seasoning sauces.
