Ingredients

  • 130 g light flour (pastry flour)
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • 25 g melted butter
  • 40 g sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Sakura powder
  • 100 g white chocolate

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together egg and sugar until smooth and slightly frothy.
  3. Melt butter in microwave or bain-marie.
  4. Add the melted butter to the egg and sugar mixture, then fold in well.
  5. Sift flour and baking powder together, then add to wet mixture. Mix until smooth.
  6. Add 2 tablespoons of Sakura powder to the dough and mix gently.
  7. Roll out the dough between two sheets of cling film to a thickness of about 1 cm.
  8. Cut out dough circles using a cookie cutter or glass. You can use your fingers to make a hole to make them look like doughnuts!
  9. Place the pastry circles on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  10. Bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until lightly browned.
  11. Meanwhile, chop the white chocolate and melt in a bain-marie or microwave. Add the Sakura powder to the melted white chocolate and mix well.
  12. Once the doughnuts are cooked, let them cool completely on a wire rack.
  13. Dip cooled doughnuts in melted white chocolate and sprinkle lightly with Sakura powder for decoration.
  14. Allow chocolate to harden before serving.
