KISSABA - café-bar
In Japan, a kissaten is etymologically a teahouse, but coffee occupies a prominent place. They developed in opposition to cafés, which, as their name suggests, had become noisy and festive places to drink alcohol. In contrast, a kissaten was a quiet, soothing place where writers and intellectuals gathered. Their image has become outdated over time, but today we're witnessing a revival and this ancient tradition is being brought back into fashion. At iRASSHAi, we've taken the best of both places to create KISSABA - café-bar.
KISSABA is not bookable (except for groups of 10 or more).
In the morning, you can enjoy emblematic Japanese pastries and savoury donburi in a friendly atmosphere. To accompany them, hot and cold drinks have been carefully selected: cereal infusions, exceptional teas such as matcha and gyokuro from Ippodo, cold-brewed iced teas such as sencha tea and green tea with yuzu. Our lattes include matcha latte, hojicha latte and kinako latte with deep, gourmet roasted soy powder. We also make surprising and delicious discoveries, like this matchaffogato, a revisited
affogato with a matcha shot and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
From 6pm, the café-bar menu expands. This is the place to start the evening or end it on a high note, discovering Japanese sakes and liqueurs. At KISSABA, we introduce you to the iconic spirits of the land of the rising sun: sake, whisky, shochu, umeshu, yuzushu... From the best-known to the most surprising, sakes are available in classic or tasting formats, so you can sample several specialties. KISSABA is a lively place to drink and see, day and night!
All the spirits offered at the bar are available for sale, and classified so that there's something for everyone. For those venturing into the world of sake for the first time, there are "discovery" sakes, with classic references. As for the "tasting" sakes, they will appeal to enthusiasts looking for something new. Finally, the "curiosity" sakes will attract connoisseurs who want to be surprised.
