Ebi Fry Recipe

Ingredients

  • 12 large raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 50 g flour
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 100 g panko (Japanese breadcrumbs)
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Lemon and tartar sauce to serve

Directions

  1. Rinse and dry the shrimp with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper.
  2. Roll each shrimp in flour, shaking off any excess.
  3. Dip in the beaten egg.
  4. Coat with panko until the shrimp is well covered.
  5. Heat the oil to 170–180°C in a saucepan or deep fryer.
  6. Fry the shrimp for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve with lemon wedges and tartar sauce. Serve immediately to enjoy the crispiness.
