Ingredients

  • 400 g fresh sashimi-grade salmon, skinless and boneless
  • 1 shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon chopped capers
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon mild mustard
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • A few sprigs of fresh dill for garnish
  • Optional: 1/2 avocado, diced

Directions

  1. Cut the salmon into small, even cubes measuring approximately 1 cm.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the chopped shallot, capers, lemon juice, mustard, and olive oil. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Gently fold the salmon into the mixture and stir to coat the salmon cubes evenly.
  4. If using avocado, gently add it to the tartare just before serving.
  5. Divide the tartare between 4 plates or verrines. Garnish with a few sprigs of fresh dill and a drizzle of olive oil, if desired.
  6. Serve immediately to enjoy the salmon at its freshest.
