Ingredients

  • 2 bowls cooked rice (preferably cooled)
  • 150 g chicken (cut into small pieces)
  • 1/2 onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 carrot (finely diced)
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Ketchup (for decoration)
  • Fresh parsley (optional)

Directions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Sauté the onion and carrot until tender. Stir in the cooked rice, mix well, then add the ketchup and soy sauce. Sauté until the rice is evenly coated. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, beat the eggs with the milk and a pinch of salt. Melt the butter in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Pour half the egg mixture into the pan and spread evenly. Cook until the omelette is still slightly runny in the center.
  3. Place half the sautéed rice in the center of the omelet. Gently fold over the edges of the omelette to cover the rice and slide onto a plate with a spatula.
  4. Decorate the Omurice with ketchup by drawing designs or writing personalized messages. Add a sprig of parsley for an elegant finishing touch.
