Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon (about 2 g) of high-quality matcha powder
- 6 g of ube powder
- 120 ml whole milk
- 60 ml of hot water (about 70–80°C)
- A few ice cubes (if you prefer an iced version)
Directions
- In a bowl or small glass, mix the ube powder with a tablespoon of hot water. Stir well to dissolve the powder and obtain a smooth, colorful paste. Add a little more water if necessary to avoid lumps.
- In another bowl, sift the matcha powder to avoid lumps. Add 60 ml hot water (not boiling to preserve aromas). Using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small whisk attachment, whisk vigorously in "W" or "M" until the matcha is well dissolved and a fine foam forms on the surface.
- If you're making an iced latte: Place the ice cubes in a tall glass. First pour the ube mixture into the bottom of the glass, then slowly add the whole milk.
- If you're making a hot latte: heat the whole milk and pour the ube mixture into the bottom of the cup.
- Gently pour the prepared matcha over the milk and ube mixture. This will create a beautiful separation of colors. Serve immediately, stirring to blend the three layers and enjoy.
